Firewalls and Online Testing
7. How do I know if my computer at work is protected from the Internet by a firewall?
Testing your email connection may provide you with this answer but it is always best to check directly with your network administrator.
8. Can I still take tests if I have a firewall on the network at work?
Not without permission. Speak to your network administrator to determine if any special arrangements can be made to allow you to bypass the firewall. Alternately, you might take the test from your home computer if you have personal Internet access from home.
9. What about the firewall on my wireless home network?
A home wireless network firewall protects the wireless network from unauthorized users gaining access to it. It will not block outgoing or incoming email so it will not affect your submission of tests by email.
10. Who do I ask to help me fix a problem with my firewall?
If you are experiencing difficulty with a firewall at your place of work, please contact your network administrator. Our technical support staff may be able to advise you, but your network administrator will be the individual who ultimately determines if access through the firewall is allowed.
If you are not able to solve your online testing problem, please contact the Student Support Center at 1-866-279-1457 or email [email protected].
